Blacksmiths’ Festival

On Friday, May 15, one of the city’s most atmospheric festivals officially began at the square of the Bastion Gallery, traditionally bringing together masters of blacksmithing art from Ukraine and around the world.

Over the course of three days, residents of Ivano-Frankivsk and visitors to the city will have the opportunity to see the true art of fire and metal, attend master classes, watch blacksmithing demonstrations, and visit a fair featuring forged works and craft products.

According to the City Council, a special highlight of this year’s festival will be the collective forging of the sculpture “Unity Is Our Strength,” as well as a charity initiative in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Throughout the three days, blacksmith workshops are operating on the Bastion square, where everyone can observe the creation of metal forms — from glowing hot metal to finished artistic pieces.

The festival will continue through May 17, giving visitors the opportunity not only to admire unique exhibits, but also to purchase exclusive handcrafted items for themselves or as gifts.

The Blacksmiths’ Festival in Ivano-Frankivsk, combining the preservation of folk traditions with a modern artistic approach, has become an important event that supports culture, crafts, and the development of the local community.
