Photo exhibition "Seeing with the Heart"

Lesya Dykun's photo exhibition "Seeing with the Heart" opened today at the Bastion Gallery. It includes fourteen photos of people from the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children and Youth with Disabilities "Dyvosvit". These persons have certain functional limitations, but they are all interesting individuals who have the right to improve themselves and enjoy life, like all other people.

"The idea to organize the exhibition came to me after the photo shoot at the Dyvosvit center," says the photographer. – This was not the first time, I photographed these people, and each time I noticed that they express themselves better in front of the camera. With each photo shoot I saw them from the other side. I would like to show that people with certain functional limitations are very kind and sincere. Unfortunately, they are not always adequately accepted in our society. "

The most important purpose of the first personal exhibition of Lesya Dykun is to show the beauty and kindness of people who are not always understood and accepted by our society. It is aimed to teach us to see people not only with our eyes but also with our hearts, that is, to appreciate their soul and inner world. According to the author of the exhibition, it was very difficult for her to select photos for the exhibition, because the photos of all her models are worth seeing by the world.

Lesya Dykun has been engaged in photography for more than 10 years. At first, this activity was just a hobby, but after the Dmitry Petryna`s photography courses, this hobby grew into a professional activity. For more than four years, the author has been arranging family and children's photo shoots, often photographing children and adults with various diagnoses and functional limitations. In particular, one of her photo shoots took place in the children's oncology department.
